WHAT MAKES WOOD END SPECIAL
Wood End Light, built in 1872, stands at the far end of Provincetown's curved arm, accessible only by a long, challenging walk along the beach or stone breakwater. This 39-foot square white tower offers dedicated lighthouse enthusiasts a true adventure and spectacular views of Provincetown Harbor and Cape Cod Bay.
The lighthouse marks the entrance to Provincetown Harbor and has guided countless vessels safely around the dangerous Race Point shoals. Its remote location means fewer visitors, offering a peaceful lighthouse experience for those willing to make the trek.
The Challenge: Reaching Wood End Light requires either a 2+ mile beach walk (which can be impassable at high tide) or a careful walk along the breakwater stones (challenging and potentially dangerous in rough weather).
